Saturday Nov 3 MARQUEZ UD12 OVER JUAREZ
Juan Manuel Marquez was extremely sharp in scoring a comfortable decsion over a very determined Rocky Juarez in their super featherweight championship fight. Juarez was cut in the first round by an accidental clash of heads and the blood flowed from the corner of his left eye throughout. Rocky lived up to his namesake, in effort at least, but the skills of Marquez proved to be too much on this night at the Desert Diamond Casino in Tuscon, AZ.
There was much pre-fight talk about scar tissue on the forehead of Marquez (48-3-1, 35 KO's). But when the two fighters finally began their once-delayed fight, it was Juarez (27-4, 19 KO's) who was cut by an unintentional head butt in round one. The cut bothered the Olympian throughout, though it is hard to say how much.
Marquez, meanwhile, was very precise from the outside. He even threw uppercuts from distance, some of which landed. It was the combination punching of Marquez that carried the day for most of the fight. Juarez got his best work done when letting his hands go but all too often his attack was limited to single punches.
Golden Boy Promotions put on the fight and Showtime televised with roughly 2,500 fans looking on. GBP main man Oscar De La Hoya said afterwards that the next logical fight for Marquez would be a rematch with Manny Pacquiao. JMM survived three first-round knockdowns to come back and earn a draw with Pacquiao in their first fight.
Here's the round-by-round report of Juan Manuel Marquez vs. Rocky Juarez:

10-9 M, 30-27 M
FOUR – Marquez does very good work to the body from the outside. Juarez throwing lots of one-twos but mostly blocked by Marquez. Bell rang a minute early. Juarez was actually doing fairly well.
10-9 M, 40-36 M
FIVE – Lead left upper by Marquez lands. Juarez drives him to the ropes but doesn’t get much done. Good left lands by Juarez. Good left hook by Juarez to the head. Juarez drives in, Marquez drills him with upper. Marquez is surgical with his punches. A better round for Juarez behind his left hand, but Marquez still won it.

Joe Calzaghe won his super middleweight superfight against Mikkel Kessler by pulling away over the second half of the fight. Kessler threw the bigger punches throughout but Calzaghe's seemingly endless supply of energy had the last word.
Official scores were 117-111, 116-112 and 116-112, all for Calzaghe.
The two undefeated champions put on a thrilling show in Cardiff, Wales, the home of Calzaghe. Kessler fought very well and appeared to have Calzaghe out of rhythm until the fifth round. At that point, Calzaghe's famously awkward, high-energy style began to carry the fight. As Kessler looked to measure and counter punch with big shots, Calzaghe fought in spurts, threw punches from odd angles and was difficult for Kessler to hit with clean punches.
Joe Calzaghe's record is now 44-0 with 32 KOs, while Kessler tastes defeat for the first time and falls to 39-1 with 29 KOs.

Saturday May 1 MAYWEATHER UD12 OVER MOSLEY Floyd Mayweather Jr. survived one of the rockier moments of his career in the second round and went on to seize control of his fight with Shane Mosley, winning an easy unanimous decision after 12 rounds. The ease with which Mayweather won the last 10 rounds made the first two a distant memory by the time the judges returned scorecards of 119-109, 119-109 and 118-110.
With the win Floyd stayed perfect, improving to 41-0 with 25 KO\'s.
The battle was fought at welterweight, with Mosley (46-6, 39 KO\'s) being considered by many as the first legit 147-pounder that Floyd has faced in that division. The size and strength advantages turned out to be all Mayweather\'s.
And then there was the matter of hand speed.
As per usual, Mayweather made his opponent look slow, and that is new territory for Mosley. Also baffling to Sugar Shane was the fact that Floyd stands directly in front of his opponent for the entire bout, in very close quarters, yet can\'t be hit cleanly with any consistency.
Mosley seemed to solve that riddle in the second round, landing two solid right hands that rocked Mayweather. It was as much danger as Floyd has been in as a pro, but he not only made it out of the round, he took complete control when the bell sounded for round three.
It was the same script for Mayweather with his rolling front shoulder and head movement followed by carefully placed shots at the speed of light. Mosley\'s advanced boxing age of 38 was very little factor in this mismatch. Floyd\'s speed kills.
Essentially, all the superlatives that used to be heaped upon Roy Jones Jr., with very little justification, are applicable to Floyd Mayweather Jr. Unlike Jones who had little competition and chose to avoid the challenges that he did have available to him, Mayweather has composed a resume of victories from 130 to 154 that includes the names Diego Corrales, Jose Luis Castillo, Arturo Gatti, Sharmba Mitchell, Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and now Shane Mosley. Only Castillo gave Floyd a tough fight, twice, while De La Hoya made the decision close in a decidedly boring fight. Everybody else got outclassed. Badly.
Mayweather insisted in his post-fight interview that Manny Pacquaio agree to PED testing that killed their original meeting a few months back. While Pacquaio may be able to hang with Floyd in the speed department, tonight\'s fight revealed that Floyd\'s strength will be the main issue to be dealt with in that matchup, if it ever happens.
